You also examine the workings of the social institutions that govern people's lives, assessing their impact on individuals and society as a whole. There are additional options to study criminology, modern culture or social policy. In your second and final years, you extend your knowledge of sociological theory and social research methods. You can also study optional modules from a range covering areas such as childhood, environmentalism, gender, political change, crime, race, violence and work. As well as studying sociology modules, you develop your quantitative research skills throughout the degree. This gives you the analytical skills to apply subject-specific knowledge to real world issues.
