Course summary

Course Overview The BA(Hons) Animation course equips students with essential skills for a career in animation. The course covers both traditional and digital animation techniques, including 2D and 3D animation, character design, and storyboarding. Students will learn about the entire animation production process, from concept to final output, and gain a thorough understanding of the industry’s methodologies and business practices. The curriculum is designed to prepare students for diverse roles in the animation industry, ensuring they are well-versed in both the creative and technical aspects of animation. The course is implemented using a Universal Design for Learning framework, which promotes inclusive education and accommodates the diverse needs of all students. Core Study Areas The course focuses on three key disciplines within the animation and visual effects industry. Students are also encouraged to explore related fields such as Character Sculpting, Screenwriting and Creature Animation fostering collaboration across creative technology disciplines. Industry-Relevant Skillsets Students engage with industry-relevant skillsets that prepare them for both individual and team-based projects. Key areas of focus include:

International applicants

BIMM University (or our partner Met Film School) welcomes applicants from countries that will require a student visa to study in the UK. Applicants must meet requirements set by UKVI. Upon acceptance of an offer you may be required to attend a consultation with a member of the admissions team. We are waiting on confirmation from UKVI that some of our campuses can accept applicants that require a student visa. Should these not be approved, we will be able to offer an alternative course and/or campus, subject to audition/portfolio and academic requirements being met.

English language requirements

We also accept the following qualifications: - ESOL Skills for Life Level B2 (Higher B2 on CEFR Scale) - IGCSE English Language (First Language) at C/4 or above - IGCSE English Language (Second Language) at B/3 or above - International Baccalaureate Standard English A at grade 4, OR Higher Level English B at grade 4. If you have studied a different English Language qualification, please send details to the admissions team and we will confirm if it can be accepted. Applicants that need a student visa to study will be required to have taken a UKVI approved qualification, achieving the minimum requirements. Full details can be viewed on our website. Applicants must have met the minimum requirement and be in receipt of results prior to enrolment.
