Course summary
The BA in History at the University of Strathclyde allows students to sharpen their critical thinking, communication and research skills while exploring the most fascinating and rich periods of the past. A diverse portfolio of modules includes early modern Scotland, colonial India, medicine and warfare, Cold War Africa, the birth of modern Japan, conflict in the Middle East, the consequences of industrialisation, and 20th Century Czechoslovakia. Our staff have an infectious passion for their chosen fields, encouraging lively and stimulating discussion in seminars. They value diverse perspectives, creating a learning environment where students feel comfortable expressing their ideas and challenging conventional wisdom. Students can choose to explore the history of topics such as empire, genocide, madness, medicine and disease through a critical lens. You will gain valuable insight into the roots of contemporary issues in society and arm yourself with the knowledge to address similar challenges in the future.
