Course summary
Our MSc Sports Therapy is a conversion course, specifically designed to develop the skills of sports scientists and other relevant degree holders, into industry ready practitioners with an accreditation to the Society of Sports Therapists Graduate as a qualified sports therapist using our dedicated sports therapy clinic, working with the general population and athletes with support from industry experienced staff. You’ll undertake a minimum of 200 placement hours during the course, providing you with the skills and experience that employers are looking for. You’ll benefit from contextualised teaching and learning of theory underpinning practice alongside practical and professional skills, developing you as evidence informed practitioner.
Modules
Our modules are developed regularly to reflect student and industry demands, ensuring you’re well prepared to enter skilled employment on graduation. The majority of courses are comprised of both compulsory and optional modules, the latter of which you'll be able to choose from to suit your interests and career goals. Most courses also include work placement learning, to help you gain essential experience for your future. Modules include: Anatomy, Examination and Assessment, Fundamental Treatment Skills, Developing the Evidence Informed Practitioner, Rehabilitation and Return to Sport, Contemporary Treatment Skills, Research in Professional Practice.
Assessment method
You’ll be assessed through a mixture of written, practical and oral exams, coursework and production of research reports. Many of the modules will be marked based on a mixture of assessment types, whilst others will be based solely on one type of assessment. The type of assessment may vary depending on which subject-specific optional module you select.
Entry requirements
Typical offer: Applicants should at least have either a 2:1 honours degree in Sport and Exercise Science or equivalent degree subject. Non typical offer: Applicants should have at least a 2:1 in a degree that is supported by evidence of an aptitude for the subject applied for, or have equivalent experience of training, normally from their working environment. It is important that your personal statement demonstrates evidence of: - An understanding of the course, profession, and the regulatory body (The Society of Sports Therapists) - Your experience in sports and exercise sciences (study and/or experience you have in sport and exercise related setting/role) - Evidence of your personal and professional qualities - Desire to study the subject applied for. Applicants will need to pass our Fitness to Practise Process as part of the application process.

The Hartpury Postgraduate Studentship Scheme has been developed to make postgraduate study affordable and to provide students with an opportunity to gain valuable work experience to compliment and enhance their academic study.
