Course summary
The BSc Health and Social Care Studies (Top up), validated by Sheffield Hallam University, enables students with a FdSc Professional Practice in Health and Social Care (or similar), to gain a full undergraduate degree qualification. The course will enable you to: • Develop an understanding of the complexities of working in the health and social care sector. • Gain analytical techniques and problem-solving skills that can be applied in many types of employment within the health and social care sector. • Earn an honours degree in this field, whether you’re a foundation degree holder or have studied equivalent level 5 health and social care qualifications. This top-up course is designed to enhance the qualifications of students who aim to work in non-registered roles across health and social care organisations. It will prepare you to lead organisations and services in emerging integrated health and social care roles. This course is suitable for those wishing to pursue a career in health and social care, but who are either unsure about which field of practice they wish to work within or are perhaps not eligible to access a pre-registration course. Following completion of this course, students may apply for pre-registration courses at Masters level. This course extends the FdSc Professional Practice in Health and Social Care which provides a principal route for the training and education of assistant practitioners, who have developed roles in a wide range of services including: – long term conditions – staying healthy – end of life care – maternity and newborn – acute care – planned care – mental health – children and families
