Enhance your portfolio and prepare for professional art practice. Our MA Fine Art develops your expertise across a wide range of media and fields of enquiry. Develop the skills to become an independent, innovative creative thinker and practitioner. You’ll enhance your portfolio and prepare for practice in the expanded field of contemporary art and the creative industries. Our MA Fine Art course provides opportunities for you to build advanced technical and theoretical problem-solving strategies as well as advanced interpretative abilities. As part of this course, you’ll:

  • Develop your motivations, ambitions and abilities as an artist
  • Explore a number of practices including painting, sculpture, print, installation, video, sound, performance and curating
  • Work on collective projects and events that will foster your team-working skills, adaptability and resourcefulness
Find out more... Boost your creative practice You’ll increase your abilities and understanding through a series of practice modules that will encourage creative enquiry and activity. Your study will be supported by research methodologies, which will allow you to question and better understand your own creative practice. They’ll also allow you to develop new solutions to disseminate and promote your work. Learning support You’ll be supported as you flourish into an independent, creative practitioner and thinker. Working collectively, you’ll develop skills of negotiation, adaptability and resourcefulness preparing you to respond to contemporary challenges in the field of art practice. Entry requirements

Applicants should either have at least a second class honours degree in the cognate subjects of Art or Design, at least a second class honours degree in a non-cognate subject supported by evidence of an aptitude for the subject applied for, or have equivalent experience or training, normally from within the work environment. All suitable candidates who meet the entry requirements will be required to submit a portfolio of creative work related to the cognate areas listed above and may be required to attend an interview. Your portfolio should include examples from your previous education, professional experience, or personal work. All applications should be supported by a reference, either academic or professional.


English language requirements

Please note the IELTS requirement for this course are IELTS 6.5 with no skill below 6.0.
