Course summary

Want to study physics at Newcastle, but not studying maths or science A levels (or equivalent)? If so, this Foundation Year programme is designed for you. Take this Foundation Year to develop the knowledge you need to progress to our three-year Physics BSc Honours degree. You will study topics such as: •foundation mathematics •foundation physics •individual project On successful completion of your Foundation Year you are guaranteed entry to our Physics degree programme at Newcastle (subject to achieving the required grades).

AAB or A*BB excluding excluding General Studies and Critical Thinking OR ABB or A*BC if at least one A level from: Maths, Biology, Chemistry, English Literature, Geography, History, Physics and Modern/Classical Languages or grade 2 in any STEP paper. For Maths or Physics A levels, the minimum grade is B. Applicants with A-levels in Maths AND Physics are not eligible for Foundation Year, and directed to Honours Physics programmes. GCSE grade B or 6 in Mathematics and Physics (or Dual Award Science) required.

Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma (first teaching from September 2016) - DDD

Access to HE Diploma - D: 45 credits M: 0 credits P: 0 credits

Scottish Higher - AAABB

AAABB at including AB at Advanced Higher Level. Mathematics and Physics required at National 5, minimum grade B (or grade 2 Standard Grade or Intermediate 2 equivalent) if not offered at Higher Grade. Where a candidate has bypassed the assessment for National 5 qualifications, a minimum of grade C in the Higher in Mathematics and Physics is required. Scottish qualifications can be taken in more than one sitting.
