Our MA in English-Chinese Interpreting with Translation is ideal if you’re looking to begin or develop your career as a professional interpreter. You'll be ready for industry with opportunities throughout the course to put your learning into practice. Develop your technical skills across different forms of interpretation. At Birmingham, you'll develop your knowledge and practical skills from day one. You'll get lots of in-class practice in our Interpreting Suite using professional Televic technology used by international organisations. Learn simultaneous and consecutive interpreting, with opportunities to learn community interpreting too. Our modules will prepare you for interpreting in a range of real world scenarios, including business, legal, medical and other settings. What's more, you'll complete an extended project where you can focus on your chosen topic(s) in depth.

You’ll need to have native-speaker proficiency in Mandarin Chinese. You’ll usually need to hold a languages or humanities-related degree at 2:1 or above.
