Course summary

This degree emphasizes the application of technology in business and industry. We provide a thorough grounding in computing, the construction and use of database systems, new technologies, systems administration, artificial intelligence and business information systems. This degree is a variant of the standard Computer Information Systems degree and provides an opportunity to study a range of modules in Bangor’s internationally-acclaimed Business School. We’ve designed this course to enable you to apply the latest developments in Computing to a broad range of organisational Information and Technology problems. After graduating you will be equipped to manage and develop computational technology and systems for a broad range of user’s needs. We will also prepare you for the world of work with a range of professional skills, including communication, teamwork, time-management and independent learning alongside an awareness of relevant legal, social and ethical issues.  During your time at Bangor you will develop an understanding of the fundamentals underpinning computer information systems and their application in industry. You will be able to describe the operation of these systems and apply a range of principles and concepts to the production of properly considered solutions and systems. Crucially you will also understand the drivers for the future trends in this fast-moving area. ‘Placement Year’ and 'International Experience Year’ options are available for this course. You will have the opportunity to fully consider these options when you have started your course at Bangor and can make an application for a transfer onto such a pathway at the appropriate time. You can find more information about these options on our website and if you have any questions, please get in touch. If you don’t have the required qualifications for this degree-level course or are looking to re-enter education after time away from study, then a Foundation Year Programme might be the right choice for you.
