Course summary
Kickstart your career with a Business Management degree from LTU. This course has been developed with employers to make sure you graduate with the skills and experience you need to succeed. You'll study the essential functions of management, operations and HR, build a professional portfolio, and develop a wide-ranging knowledge of organisations and the business environment. This four-year course includes an initial full-time Foundation Year and offers an alternative route into university and gaining a degree. This route is for you if you do not have the necessary qualifications or don’t yet feel ready to begin degree-level study, or are returning to education and would like some support to get up to speed with learning in a university setting. The Foundation Year in Business will allow you to develop your academic skills and confidence as well as introduce you to key concepts, debates and skills that will support and inform your subsequent years of undergraduate study. Following successful completion of your Foundation Year, you’ll progress onto Year 1 of our Business Management BA (Hons) degree.
Modules
Academic Skills and Studying with Confidence: You’ll develop skills such as using electronic resources, planning and note-taking, communication skills related to essay and report writing and delivering presentations. You'll learn how to manage your time, how to prioritise and how to manage stress, and you'll become more confident in engaging with collaborative learning, debates, discussions and critical reflection. Business Analytics and Consultancy: You'll first be introduced to the concepts of business analysis where you'll cover analytical tools and techniques aiming to equip you with the skills to understand and apply statistical data in business decision-making processes. You'll also enhance your numeracy skills, learn to interpret numerical data and basic statistics. Essentials of Business: Build a broad understanding necessary for specialised study in business and develop the knowledge of the key terminologies and concepts used in business. Enterprise and Innovation: Explore the pivotal role of creativity and innovation in shaping sustainable businesses and delve into the various dimensions that foster innovation from organisational culture to the entrepreneurial mindset, equipping you with the knowledge and skills to thrive in dynamic business environments.
