In mathematics you will explore the core areas of mathematics, including calculus, algebra and probability, as well as developing a solid foundation in mathematical methods and techniques so you can apply these principles to the real world. Throughout the programme, you will have the opportunity to explore pure mathematics, applied mathematics and statistics. To help develop the skills employers are looking for, you can learn the programming language Python and understand how mathematics is used in a professional environment. In Physics you will explore topics such as the fundamentals of classical and quantum mechanics, electromagnetism, optics, thermodynamics, solid state, atomic and nuclear physics, together with the mathematics that is used to describe them. Your studies will culminate with the opportunity to apply the techniques you have acquired throughout your degree by completing a final year project. You will also have maximum flexibility to tailor your studies to your career aspirations and personal interests by choosing from a variety of optional modules.
