Course summary

Education has the power to change lives and provide the opportunity to change your career and pathway. This new and innovative course looks at education from a holistic perspective covering primary and secondary but with a strong emphasis on the post compulsory sector. It looks at how to support learners and help them develop personally alongside developing their knowledge and skills. The course also responds to the diversity and challenges that learners face and examines the contributory factors as well as focussing on successful strategies that can help support learners. There is a clear focus on putting your skills into practice as there is a placement module each year and assessments are focussed on practice. This is a multi-disciplinary course that includes sociology, psychology, social policy, educational theory, history and cultural theory. If you are interested in teaching in the post compulsory sector, successful completion of this course will guarantee you an interview on our PgCE programme.

Assessment method

No examination, 100% coursework. Assessment is through a variety of methods, including practical and interactive activities as well written coursework. There is also the addition of placement related assessments.
