Course summary

Do you want to be the driving force for change in complex systems? Are you ready to master the intricacies of managing complexity? This innovative course is designed to provide the necessary knowledge and skills to manage complex systems effectively in various sectors, including but not limited to ICT, Engineering, Aquaculture, Defence, Cyber Security and Health and Care. Offering a unique blend of theoretical concepts and practical applications that are drawn from real-world case studies from public and private sector. The programme combines theories and models from complex systems, socio-technical systems, and complexity theory. You will learn about the principles of asset management, operations management and complexity theory and how it can be applied to real-world situations. This programme with enable you to learn about the importance of socio-technical systems and how they are essential for managing complex systems effectively. Upon completion you will be equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to manage complex systems effectively in various sectors. You will be able to apply the principles of complexity theory and socio-technical systems to solve complex problems and make effective decisions. As a Complex Systems graduate, you will be highly sought after by public and private sector organizations for their ability to manage complex systems and their cross-sector applicability.


Entry requirements

Students must attain 2:1 (or overseas equivalent) in an undergraduate degree and any degree subject will be considered. We would also be willing to consider those with other backgrounds and work experience in the sector, in place of the degree entry requirement. Students must also have a minimum of one year relevant work experience. Non-native speakers must achieve an IELTS score of 6.5 or greater with no component less than 6.0. If you have studied an undergraduate degree taught through the medium of English, you may be exempt from this requirement. For students who fall short of only the English language requirement, we offer a range of Pre-Master's training programmes that you may take before starting your Master's qualification.
