BA (Hons) Special and Inclusive Education prepares you to be a forward-thinking professional, with expertise in creating equitable learning pathways and opportunities for diverse learning profiles, including special and additional educational needs. Our three-year programme has been created in collaboration with sector leaders, including CEOs of mainstream and special schools, specialist Local Authority officers, and Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) therapists, helping to inspire positive change in inclusive practice. This course is designed to create graduates who are committed to ensuring equality of opportunity for all individuals. The course combines core education theory with a deep dive into specialist SEND topics. From the start, you’ll build essential academic and professional skills, learning about child development, behaviour, and inclusive practices. Throughout your degree, you’ll tailor your learning to your interests through specialist modules and hands-on placements in real-world settings. In your final year, you’ll complete an independent project focused on an area you’re passionate about — helping you graduate with confidence, experience, and a clear sense of your future path. You'll develop a deep understanding of critical and theoretical thinking around neuro-and physical diversity, transdisciplinary approaches, practical strategies and becoming an effective professional. Through a mix of academic knowledge and practical experience, you’ll learn key concepts and legislation around inclusive learning. Simulation-based learning using modern facilities is paired with campus-based delivery, preparing you for Work Integrated Learning (WIL). You’ll have opportunities for professional learning experiences in diverse settings, gaining vital hands-on experience through Manchester Met’s strong sector partnerships. Features and Benefits:

- Teaching expertise – Sector-wide experts will make a key contribution to taught sessions and provide opportunities for sharing wider industry knowledge.
- Modern facilities – Teaching will take place in facilities, such as The CAVE, an immersive learning environment with touch sensitive walls, and The Flat, a space which replicates a home environment, to effectively deliver SEND demonstration and practice.
- Strong sector partnerships – Our range of partnerships will provide you with diverse learning experiences, preparing you for professional practice.
