Course summary
A University of Hertfordshire research degree is internationally recognised signifying high levels of achievement in research. This course develops extensive subject expertise and independent research skills honed over an extended period. You undertake a substantial, original research project for the duration of the degree, under the supervision and guidance of two or more academic members of staff. During the course you’ll attend a seminar series and generic training courses. There will be opportunities to present your work at major conferences and in refereed research publications. The degree is assessed on the final research output in the form of a substantial 80,000 words written thesis which is defended in a viva with an external examiner.
Entry requirements
We require PhD Study applicants to be in possession of a good honours degree (2:1 or above), and a Masters degree in a relevant discipline. IELTS entry requirement is normally 6.5 or equivalent for overseas students.
