Modules
You’ll work through eight 15-credit courses and a 60-credit project to gain your MSc. You can start your studies in September or January and progress at a pace that suits you. Typically, it takes 27 months to complete the MSc part-time. To study part-time, we recommend you take no more than 30 credits per term. You can take breaks between courses, as long as you complete your studies within six years.
Assessment method
This degree is assessed online. We’ll use several types of assessment throughout your studies, including: coursework reports, including lab reports, numerical tests, online exams, including open-book exams. For each course that’s part of this degree, assessment will consist of at least two elements, ensuring that all learning outcomes are tested effectively.

This course has a subject classification which requires students whose nationality is outside the European Economic Area (EEA) or Switzerland to have an ATAS certificate, irrespective of country of residence at the point of application.

Entry requirements
A UK Honours Degree at 2:1 (upper second class), or an Honours degree from a non-UK institution which is judged by the University to be of equivalent worth in Mechanical, Civil, Materials, Chemical, or Aerospace Engineering. You can also apply if you have a 2:2 UK honours degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical, Civil, Materials, Chemical, or Aerospace Engineering and can demonstrate at least two years’ relevant Engineering experience. Key subjects you must have covered: Mathematics and mechanical subjects.
