Our Geography BSc(Hons) prepares you for careers in environmental consultancy, conservation, resource management, environmental impact assessment, sustainability policy, education and more. Human Geography examines social, cultural and economic patterns, and Global Challenges: Climate Change and Environmental Degradation tackles pressing planetary issues. Statistical and Spatial Data Analysis introduces key research tools, and Academic Learning for Geography and Environmental Studies supports your transition to university level study. Deepen your expertise with Earth Surface Processes, Professional Practice for Global Challenges and Research Design and Advanced Data Analysis. Apply your learning in Geography and Environment International Field Work, exploring environmental and social issues overseas. Option modules let you specialise in areas such as pollution, sustainability, GIS and remote sensing and physical geography. You can also take an optional placement year to gain hands-on experience, build confidence and develop a network of contacts. Our students have been on placements with organisations such as the Department for Energy and Climate Change, Transport for London, the Field Studies Council, as well as with environmental firms and consultancies. Focus on your interests with an independent Dissertation supported by academic supervision. Choose from modules exploring climate, geohazards, environmental impact assessment and coloniality and racism. You can also take the Community Placement module during which you can apply your skills with an external organisation before you graduate. *Option modules are indicative and may change, depending on timetabling and staff availability.

Additional fee information

The fees listed in the table above are for full-time UK undergraduate students in academic year 2025-26. You will pay further fees in each year of your course. Fees may increase each year. UK undergraduate and certain postgraduate fees are regulated by the UK government. The annual fee increase will not exceed the UK government's maximum regulated tuition fee limit set for the relevant academic year. Many of our courses include the option of a salaried placement year. Tuition fees for a placement year are charged at a lower rate of £1850. The international tuition fees listed above are for full-time courses during the academic year 2025-26. Further tuition fees are payable in each year of study. Non-regulated tuition fees, which usually apply to international students and UK postgraduate students* are subject to an annual increase of a maximum of 5% or the Consumer Prices Index (CPI), whichever is higher. *Some designated postgraduate courses are regulated by the UK government – the annual fee increase for eligible UK / Home students on these designated courses will not exceed the UK government’s regulated tuition fee limit set for the relevant academic year.
