Course summary
This Pearson vocational course offers an exciting and hands on learning experience which prepares you for work in the film and television industries including Drama, Documentary, Content Creation, Multi-Camera TV Production and Live Broadcasting. The course begins at level 4 where you will develop strong foundational skills in single camera production and multi-camera TV broadcasting. Multi-skilled practitioners are highly sought after and, you will work in a variety of roles from concept design and scriptwriting to cinematography and editing. Throughout the course you will have access to industry standard equipment, including our state-of-the-art TV studio and gallery and will engage with studio and location filming. With a combination of classroom teaching and production-based learning you will develop skills in critical thinking, teamwork and problem-solving alongside your narrative and technical abilities.
Modules
Level 4 – Module A Process and Practice: A1 Concept and Development A2 Creative Project During Level 4, you will study contextual and production focused film and television. This includes but is not inclusive of: Introduction to Film and TV Studies Scriptwriting Production and Technical Skills – Introduction to TV Broadcasting, Documentary Production – including cinematography, lighting and sound recording. Post-Production – Audio and Video Editing using Adobe Premiere Pro. Creative Project – Multi-Camera studio TV Production.
Assessment method
This is a 100% coursework qualification. Practical skills are an essential element of the course and will be developed through independent work, classroom activity and expert demonstration. Peer and tutor feedback will be used to support skills development. Oral and written communication will also be developed through assignments and production work. Assessments include a variety of methods including presentations, reports/essays, digital portfolio, observation of production work. All units must be passed to complete the course

Equal consideration is given to applicants who are currently in relevant work and wish to apply to Solihull College & University Centre. To apply, they must have a minimum of 3 years’ relevant work experience, demonstrating technical, management or supervisory duties. Any application must also include a reference from their line manager which supports entry to higher education.
English language requirements
Students who are non-native English speakers, or who have not studied the final two years of school in English, but can demonstrate capability in English at a standard commensurate to IELTS 6.0, with a minimum of 5.5 being awarded on individual sections for a level 4, 5 or 6 qualification, will be considered as eligible to apply for the programme/course.
