Course summary

Our Acting for Stage and Screen degree combines practical workshops and theory to explore acting, drama, theatre, and screen contexts. This degree creates skilled actors with the ability to work across the performance mediums of stage and screen. You'll also get to explore other areas such as directing and writing. Key features: Top 25 in the Guardian League Tables 2022 for Drama and Dance Our lecturers have worked as actors and directors at the BBC, ITV, National Theatre, National Tours and various regional repertory theatres across the UK Strong working links with local, regional and national theatres and arts and media organisations for placements. Regular guest lecturers, directors and practitioners from the industry. Industry-standard technical facilities for theatre productions. Optional showcase Optional visits to London, Stratford-upon-Avon, Switzerland and New York. On successful completion of study, we will issue the following award: BA (Hons) Acting for Stage and Screen

Year 1 (Core) Acting One, Acting Two, The Actor as a Collaborator, Movers and Shakers. Year 2 (Core) Play Production: Acting, Acting for Recorded Media, Heightened Text, Explorations in Rehearsal. Year 3 (Options) Staging the Classics, One Voice, The Russian Connection Production, Musical Theatre, Creative Company Practice, Writing Drama, Professional Placement

Assessment method

This course consists of a combination of acting workshops, filmed work and public productions. Assessment includes coursework, presentations, productions and rehearsals. There are no formal exams.
