Course summary

Globalisation is here to stay and the number of active international industries continues to grow each year. The LLM in International Commercial Law is a specialist legal course which will develop your understanding of the nature of international commercial law and regulation. It is suitable for individuals already working in the legal sector, as well as those looking to increase their knowledge in this area. You can study aspects of commercial law that have international relevance, and consider specific issues that arise in commercial and consumer law. You will also explore different aspects of globalisation and how the law influences and responds to these. Outside of term time you will have the opportunity to volunteer in the University’s Legal and Financial Advice Clinic. There you will have the chance to put the knowledge and skills you have gained on the course into practice. The Clinic will allow you to engage directly with the legal profession, and work with a number of reputable law firms.


Entry requirements

A minimum 2:2 Honours degree in any discipline, or a relevant professional qualification such as the Institute of Legal Executives, and others that include some element of law. For applicants who do not possess formal qualifications, relevant professional experience may be taken into account via the Accreditation of Prior Learning (APL)/Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning (APEL) mechanism (University regulations will apply). Equivalent international qualifications will also be considered. International students must have English to IELTS 6.0 overall with a minimum of 5.5 in each component.
