Learning Style Our aim is to shape confident learners by enabling you to develop the skills needed to excel in your studies and for your future career. You are taught primarily through a combination of lectures and seminars, allowing opportunities to discuss and develop your understanding of topics in groups. You are encouraged to access academic support from staff within the course team and the wide range of university services. Structure of Course In your first year, you'll gain essential academic and digital skills, understanding Computational Thinking, mathematical concepts, and system design within organisations. You'll also develop practical programming for software solutions. During your second year, you'll enhance your research methods, including qualitative and quantitative skills and ethical awareness. You'll become a more confident programmer, deepen your database understanding, and explore quantitative models and computer hardware support for operating systems. An optional industry placement year is available between your second and third years. Your final year offers an in-depth look at distributed systems and the Internet of Things (IoT), alongside high-performance computational simulation for real-world problems. You'll choose one of four Capstone Project options: Dissertation, Placement for Good, Consultancy Project, or Start Up For Good. You can also select optional modules to specialise your studies. Facilities You will access a wide range of specialist software and tools, including dedicated Cyber Security and Forensics, Networking, and Software Development laboratories in a state-of-the-art building. We tend to favour workshop-style sessions over lectures, allowing you to apply cutting-edge knowledge and skills to real-life scenarios, using live briefs, simulations, role play, and live case studies to recreate workplace conditions. Entry requirements

Qualification requirements

Applicants are required to hold a minimum of 2 x A-level or equivalent qualifications (e.g. 2 x BTEC National Subsidiary Diplomas) and we accept all A-level subjects, including Critical Thinking, General Studies and own-language A-levels. We welcome applicants who have completed the Extended Project (EP/EPQ) and points obtained from this qualification will be included in any offer. In addition, we accept a maximum of 32 points from level 3 qualifications below A2 that are included in the tariff (e.g. AS-levels not studied at A-level, music or dance qualifications). If you are a mature student, your application will be considered on its individual merits and work or other professional experience may be taken into consideration in lieu of other published requirements.
