Additional entry requirements

Audition

Prior to attending your interview, all applicants should prepare one short monologue (between 1 and 1 ½ minutes long) which will be used in an intense camera workshop. You should have the speeches thoroughly learnt and be off the book. There will also be an unrehearsed aspect to the audition, where candidates will be given a page of duologue from a film script to read with the assessor. You will also need to prepare a short piece of Music (about 3 minutes in length) so the tutor can hear you individually performing. If your piece has an accompaniment part, please bring this along so that our pianists can play alongside you (please don’t bring photocopies unless you have written permissions for these from the copyright holder). Alternatively, if you do not play an instrument or sing but compose music, please bring an example(s) of your works on CD. Acting, singing or playing in front of an audience is something that makes everyone feel a little anxious, so choose pieces that you feel shows you at your best and represents a style you feel comfortable with. It will be a relaxed and friendly interview; we try to make the experience as enjoyable as possible. We want you to be relaxed since this is when we are most likely to see the ‘real you’. It is also an opportunity for us to find out about why you might want to study here at Chichester, what you have done so far in your studies before university and your opinions about Acting and Music more generally. Be prepared, but don’t panic!
