Course summary
Upon completing this master’s degree, you will be eligible to register as a midwife with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) Professional Register. Midwives provide care and support to pregnant women/birthing people, their partners, and families throughout pregnancy, including antenatal, intrapartum, and postpartum care. Equality and diversity are central to delivering high-quality care. Our midwifery programmes are designed to provide an inclusive curriculum that values and respects differences. We aim to ensure all our students feel valued and included. The MSc Midwifery Post RN (pre-registration) programme is tailored for Adult Nursing graduates (NMC registered) who wish to pursue a career in midwifery. This master’s programme offers a strong foundation for careers in clinical practice, research, education, management, leadership, or consultancy. Our curriculum is UNICEF Baby Friendly accredited, and in February 2021, we achieved the Gold Award status for our commitment to infant feeding education. You will:
- Learn to practice autonomously, preparing for a career as a registered midwife.
- Develop the skills needed to provide care throughout the pregnancy continuum.
- Build and maintain a portfolio of personal and professional development (PDP).
