Course summary

The course is designed for both construction professionals and lawyers. Construction professionals will learn about the legal framework to the construction industry and engage on the legal processes involved in major construction projects, from commissioning to completion. Lawyers will gain a greater understanding of the processes and management of construction projects, as well as in-depth legal expertise relating to such projects. The Construction Law course at the University of Strathclyde offers both an in-person and online version, with both versions offering the same content. Online students benefit from a range of pre-recorded material. All students have access to a wide range of electronic information sources.

Modules

Compulsory classes: Context of Construction (for Law graduates), Legal Process and the Law of Contact and Other Obligations (for non-Law graduates), Law of the Construction Industry, Law and Practice of Construction Management, Construction Dispute Resolution.

Assessment method

Assessment is based on your performance in coursework and/or the written exam papers. For those seeking award of the LLM you’ll need to complete a dissertation.


Entry requirements

First-class or second-class Honours degree, or International equivalent, in a related discipline.
