Course summary

The LLB Law (Accelerated JD Pathway) is an intensive two-year law degree that is designed specifically for non-law graduates of Canadian universities. You will study modules from a wide range of subject areas, including: Public Law, Tort Law, Contract Law, Equity and Trusts, Land Law, EU Law in Context, and Canadian Constitutional Law. The programme fuses academic rigour with the opportunity to develop a range of essential legal skills, enabling you to progress on to the next stage of training to qualify as a lawyer in England, Wales, and Canada. The degree incorporates the core legal subjects assessed by the Solicitors Qualification Examination and is accredited by the Bar Standards Board. Subject to a minimum level of attainment in core modules, the degree is also accredited by the Canadian National Committee on Accreditation (NCA), and the Canadian Constitutional Law module provides excellent preparation for the NCA exam. Based at Swansea University’s School of Law, you will benefit from being part of a lively and diverse research and teaching environment with students at its heart. For Canadian applicants, our minimum requirements are: An honours degree (4 years) with the following overall grade: • GPA (12 pt) = 6 • GPA (10 pt) = 5 • GPA (4 pt) = 2.3 Where the degree is classified by percentage, the following: • (60% Pass) = 69% • (50% Pass) = 67% For non-Canadian applicants, we require an undergraduate degree graded at 2:1 or equivalent.


English language requirements

For applicants whose first language is not English we require a minimum overall IELTS score of 6.0 (or equivalent) and no less than 5.5 in each component.
