Course summary

87.9% of our research outputs in Engineering were assessed to be world leading or internationally excellent (REF 2021) The world of robotics is exciting and fast paced – revolutionising the way we live, work and play. This is a conversion course designed for non-engineering graduates wishing to work for engineering companies. This MSc will give you the skills needed to work for employers developing or applying:

  • devices and systems for robotics and automation
  • smart systems with autonomous capability
  • ubiquitous and wearable devices.
You build on your individual responsibility, critical awareness and creative thinking, and examine issues such as:
  • project management, planning and scheduling
  • resourcing
  • documentation and communication.
You’ll be supervised by research-active faculty and be part of our vibrant international community. We have strong links with industry, well-equipped research and teaching laboratories, and we help you with your professional development. Entry requirements

You should normally have a lower second-class (2.2) undergraduate honours degree or above. You are suited to this course if you are a non-engineering graduate and your degree-level qualification is in a subject including or related to mathematics, physics, biology, chemistry, agricultural engineering, and a subject with a high analytical content such as economics, experimental psychology, and physical geography. You may also be considered for the course if you have other professional qualifications or experience of equivalent standing.
