Course summary

Landscape architecture embraces all aspects of the science, planning, design, creation and management of landscape, in both urban and rural environments. It covers all scales, from the smallest garden to the greatest wilderness. This course aims to develop landscape architects who are skilled designers and have a sound understanding of large-scale landscape projects. If you enjoy geography, politics, economics or history you will appreciate the scope and challenge of this course. You’ll learn about urban design theory, planning and practice, and will acquire a better understanding of the context in which design takes place and the wider implications of your design proposals. Graduates of this course wishing to pursue Chartership must complete an independent year in practice, followed by a Masters in Professional Landscape Architecture. Accreditation allows graduates to pursue their professional qualification in landscape architecture and become a licentiate Member of the Landscape Institute, ready to start their Pathway to Chartership and become a Chartered Member of the Landscape Institute (CMLI).
