Course summary

Become a marketing communications and PR professional for the fashion industry through a hands-on programme that develops your creative skills and teaches you how to navigate the business. You will create compelling communication strategies, brand storytelling, reputation management and digital content that is sensitive to consumer insights and fashion brand values. From transnational luxury conglomerates like LVMH to locally produced independent labels in Shoreditch, the fashion industry is the largest creative industry in the world, contributing £60 billion to the UK economy and $1.7 trillion worldwide each year. Because of the unique qualities of clothing (from its utilitarian value, to dress the body, to its added value in self-expression, identity differentiation and beyond) the fashion industry requires concentrated, sustained, precise and creative marketing communications and public relations, including brand and reputation management. This innovative course provides you with the contextual knowledge and practical skills you need to be a critical practitioner. In addition, all students have the opportunity to undertake a Professional Placement in the industry or select optional electives in Fashion Journalism or Entrepreneurship, or take business-oriented modules on business strategy, leading teams or finance, taught by the Bayes Business School. Our proximity to London’s hub of fashion and communication industries enhances your learning experience: Explore the capital’s luxury retail or vintage precincts, fashion culture and collections at museums, and access to industry leaders at international fashion shows. Our location helps us provide you with regular industry guest speakers, collaborations, and site visits to key fashion communications practioners and agencies.
