Course summary

As a physiotherapist you are integral to optimising functional ability and the quality of life of many individuals. You achieve this through your skills in health promotion and education, exercise prescription and rehabilitation and preventative health care. This course prepares you for a career in physiotherapy by combining university-based and placement experience. During the course we introduce you to key concepts of professional practice, such as reflective practice, building the therapeutic relationship and models of health, illness and disability. You use examples of real patient stories to develop your understanding of service users’ perceptions and experiences, and you explore clinical guidelines and protocols for best practice.

Qualification requirements

A minimum of three GCSEs at grade C+/4 (or equivalent) which must include an English-based subject, Mathematics and Health and Social Care or Science subject. Equivalent qualifications include Key Skills level 2; Learn Direct Level 2 and Functional Skills Level 2. Interview

There is an expectation that applicants will be able to demonstrate a good understanding of the physiotherapy role and it is recommended that you gain insight into the breadth of Physiotherapy practice through relevant work experience prior to the interview. Values consistent with the NHS constitution will be sought from applicants during the selection process.

Free Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) and Occupational Health Check: Due to the professional nature of this course you are also required to complete a Declaration of Health and Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Check. We will coordinate both of these non-academic conditions with you should you accept an offer with us. There will be no cost for the DBS this is free to applicants who have secured a Conditional offer and have chosen to study at the University of Wolverhampton.

If you are a UK student enrolling on a full-time Foundation Degree or a Bachelor degree programme at the University of Wolverhampton in 2023/4, your fee for this academic year will be £9,250. This is a yearly fee, and will increase with inflation in subsequent years (in line with the government’s fee requirements).
