Children's Nursing - Second Registration Children's' Nursing Programme at London South Bank University - UCAS

Course summary

This programme leads to a second registration in children’s nursing. If you are registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) as either an Adult, Mental Health or Learning Disability Nurse you can gain a second registration as a Children's Nurse by completing the BSc (Hons) Children's Nursing Programme. This is suitable for Registered nurses with either certificate, diploma or degree qualifications. Your previous accredited learning will enable you to make an Accreditation of Prior Learning Claim against several of the modules. This significantly reduces the duration of your programme from three years to approximately 12-15 months. The course will equip you with the knowledge and skills to assess and manage the nursing care needs of children and families, including those with acute and long-term conditions. The course will also develop your abilities to consider the wider aspects influencing children's health needs, preparing you for future leadership in a changing and challenging health care system. The course prepares you for a career in a range of rewarding children's nursing opportunities across primary, secondary and tertiary health care, specialist and intensive care children's units. Practice experience is gained in either one of several world-renowned central and outer London hospitals or if you have been seconded within your current Trust or Hospital.
