Course summary
This course offers two routes depending on your professional background and qualifications. MSc Build your expertise in resolving disputes within construction to help maintain great commercial relationships in the industry. If you’re a professional working in surveying, construction or a related field, this course, which is recognised by the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, will develop your ability to manage disputes efficiently and to resolve them. As part of your course you’ll:
- Study principles of construction law, approaches to dispute resolution (including arbitration, adjudication and mediation), and construction claims
- Enhance your ability to identify and evaluate appropriate decision-making strategies
- Develop research capability and skills to analyse problems in a professional context
- Undertake all the core modules listed and choose two option modules

Entry requirements
Applicants should either have at least a second class honours degree in the cognate subjects of Law or Construction, at least a second class honours degree in a non-cognate subject supported by evidence of an aptitude for the subject applied for, or have equivalent experience or training, normally from within the work environment. Alternatively, applicants with Corporate Membership of a Chartered Professional Body in a Construction related field are also eligible for the course. Professional Bodies concerned include (but are not necessarily restricted to): RICS, ICE, CIOB, RIBA, CIAT, BIFM, CIArb. All applications should be supported by a reference, either academic or professional. All applicants should satisfy our University English language requirements. SELECTION CRITERIA: We may use selection criteria based on your personal attributes; experience and/or commitment to the area of study.
