HND Web Design is a practice-based course, focused on giving students the necessary experience and tools to design and build websites. This two-year programme aims at helping you to develop your understanding of design and communication and create user-centred websites. Throughout the course, you will engage with core aspects of web design, including user experience (UX), user interface design (UI), coding, and digital media design. Working on a range of projects, you will develop a professional portfolio that showcases your ability to meet the latest industry standards and client needs. This is a hands-on and practical course that will enhance your employability skills. This course offers you an up-to-date award that reflects recent developments within the web design and development sector. Each subject area you cover has been tailored to meet the role requirements currently being sought after in the industry in order to ensure you get the best education to progress towards, or progress within, a successful career. You will develop design skills with the latest software packages such Figma and Adobe as well as learn about dynamic website development. In addition to current software and programmes being used in the industry, this course will also help you navigate existing and emerging Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools for web design and visual content. It will cover using AI tools within existing web frameworks that can speed up workflow. AI tools for graphics and image making and other emerging digital technologies will be explored within academic requirements.
Modules
The HND Web Design programme is structured to provide a comprehensive understanding of both the creative and technical aspects of web design. You will explore a range of dynamic topics reflecting evolving trends within the industry. Level 4 (Year 1) Topics may include: Web Design Principles User Experience (UX) Design User Interface (UI) design User Research and Testing Digital Media Design Web Coding and Scripting Digital Marketing Strategies AI tools for web design and graphic production.
