Course summary

MA Photography is a practice-based programme designed to test, push and extend the boundaries of what contemporary photography is. With a specialist focus on the materials and technologies of publishing and exhibition making, you will work in a critical and supportive environment with a diverse group of interests. Through practical exploration and critical research, you will develop a unique practice tailored to your individual creative and professional ambitions. Through hands-on exploration and critical research, you'll question and redefine photography, engaging with emerging technologies and ideas. Based at the School of Digital Arts (SODA), you will join a vibrant community with access to a wide range of state-of-the-art facilities, including analogue and digital darkrooms, fully equipped photography studios, and 3D printing facilities based at PrintCity, as well as sound, green screen and editing suites. Entry requirements

You should have at least a 2:2 undergraduate UK honours degree in a relevant discipline (e.g. Photography; Digital Photography; Filmmaking; Digital Imaging; Fine Art; Illustration). Equivalent EU/international qualifications are also accepted. Applicants who do not meet these criteria will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Other professional qualifications will be considered on merit and/or with relevant professional experience. Overseas applicants will require IELTS with an overall score of 6.5 with no less than 5.5 in any category, or an equivalent accepted English language qualification.

Additional fee information

A Masters qualification typically comprises 180 credits, a PGDip 120 credits, a PGCert 60 credits, and an MFA 300 credits.
