Course summary

Whether you’re inspired by the funky setting of Google’s New York City HQ or the luxurious, minimalist interiors created by Kelly Hoppen, there are hundreds of opportunities to work on domestic or commercial interior design projects in the UK and beyond. The HND in Interior Design will equip you with practical ways to bring your ideas to life, and the skills to succeed in the commercial world. You will explore the relationship between interior space and volume planning, learn how to selects the best materials, colours and textures, and explore presentation techniques including 2D drawing, mood boards and 3D modelling. You will get involved with studio-based and live projects and perfect the professional skills to become a successful interior designer in your own right. Progression Opportunities Successful completion of the course results in a BTEC HND in Interior Design Qualification. The Equivalent to the second year of a Degree. On completion of the course, learners may either take up employment in industry or go on to the third year of a Level 6 programme. Possible employment roles include; Residential Interior Designer, Retail Interior Designer, Freelance Interior Designer, Exhibition Designer, Theatre / Set Designer, Architectural Technician or Lighting Designer.

Assessment method

Progress is monitored by continuous assessment procedures. Students receive regular feedback at assessment points during the course.
