Energy and Sustainability (Energy, Environment and Buildings) (Taught)

Course summary

Learn about the relationship between energy and the environment on this master's. You'll explore the current and projected impacts of climate change and what this means for the energy industry. You'll be prepared for a rewarding career in this fast-growing sector as we transition to a low carbon economy and net zero. This programme has been developed alongside specialists to make sure you develop the skills to assess the energy performance and climatic design of buildings and urban forms. You'll learn to view energy and sustainability challenges from multiple perspectives, which will help you to develop rounded and lasting solutions. Our multidisciplinary approach will enable you to tackle climate change issues, while improving energy supply and the built environment.

Modules

Compulsory modules include: Introduction to Energy Technologies, Environment and Sustainability; Climate Change, Energy and Settlements; Energy Resources and Engineering; Data Analysis and Experimental Methods for Civil and Environmental Engineering; Energy Performance Assessment of Buildings; Climatic Design of Buildings and Cities; MSc Research Project. You must also study modules from: Bioenergy, Core skills in GIS and Waste Resource Management. How to apply

International applicants

English language: Band C, IELTS 6.5 overall, with a minimum of 6.0 in all components.

Entry requirements

A UK bachelor’s degree with upper second-class honours or higher in engineering, mathematics, physics or chemistry. Or you can demonstrate the study of maths in your degree, in a subject like: geography, biological sciences, environmental sciences. You’ll also need good A-level grades in Mathematics and Physics or other equivalent qualifications.
