Alongside learning a language during your first year, you can choose to study film, literature, history, politics, drama, international relations and much more. Plot your own path Through the support of the careers service, you could have the opportunity to work for a variety of companies as you spend a year in industry in your third year. Perhaps you’ll be making a difference at a charity or contributing new ideas at a local authority. Make the most of our London location and enjoy putting your new knowledge into action. Modules

Within your first year of BA study (second year for foundation students), students will study across all themes and be supported by an academic advisor. The below provides an indicative list of what you may study at each level. Compulsory modules Year 1: • A Language module (current choice is between French, Russian, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Chinese) • Culture and Language • London/Culture/Performance • History and/as Fiction Choose Elective modules from a guided list which may include: • Poetry • Background to British Politics • Understanding Global Cultures: Exploring the Big Questions • Controversies of Science and Technology in the Making of the Modern World • Planetary Emergencies: From Analysis to Action • Global Histories • Brief Encounters: Around The World In Short Stories Please note that all modules are subject to change.

Assessment method

Assessment is varied and will take a number of forms within the programme, typically a combination of written exams and coursework, final-year dissertations, and independent projects.

Qualified teacher status (QTS)

To work as a teacher at a state school in England or Wales, you will need to achieve qualified teacher status (QTS). This is offered on this course for the following level:
