Modules
Year one – You’ll be introduced to formal and informal education whilst exploring education as a vehicle for social change through multi-disciplinary perspectives. You'll study key concepts, drawing on sociology, psychology and philosophy, and cover topics including wellbeing, inclusion, voice and participation. This multidisciplinary approach exposes you to a range of different perspectives which will enable you to better understand lived experiences. You'll also undertake work-based learning where you can evaluate how change works in the real world. Year two – You’ll study the relationship between education theory and practice and explore various aspects of education from a national and global perspective, including social justice, inclusion and educational policy and practice. You'll benefit from hands-on learning and creative experiences which will support you to work collaboratively to solve problems. You'll use your skills to work on a research project with stakeholders, engaging with real-world problems, which is designed to prepare you for progression to employment or postgraduate study.
Assessment method
You’ll be formally assessed through coursework. There are no exams. Assessments could include written assignments, individual and group presentations, work-based learning appraisals and reflections. Creative assignments might involve practical projects, podcasts and vlogs.
