Course summary

Develop the theoretical and practical managerial skills you need for a successful career in the headquarters, stores and supply chains of the retail industry. This course is for graduates with a degree in any subject. We’ve combined our leading research with our industry partners’ experience to design content relevant to contemporary retailing. You’ll develop the knowledge and skills leaders need to succeed in the rapidly changing retailing industry. You’ll learn about things like:

  • e-commerce
  • supply chain and distributor relationship management
  • making sense of big and small data
  • sustainability
  • operations management
  • strategy
  • leadership
  • consumer psychology
  • customer experience
This degree balances the latest theory with practical application. You’ll apply what you learn to real-life case studies and explore them from the perspectives of firms, consumers and society. You’ll have the flexibility to choose one of three options for the summer term:
  • an independent research project
  • an industry internship
  • launch your own retail start-up

Building for the future Our School of Management building opened in June 2022. The latest technology gives you a flexible and modern learning environment. The design focuses on working together, with an open layout to enable effective teamwork. Our building encourages engagement with other students and academics. A dedicated Employment Hub provides a space for you to meet and network with our industry partners. Learning and teaching You’ll learn from staff with backgrounds and expertise in relevant areas of management. This course has been designed to ensure the available units complement each other to meet its overall aims.

Entry requirements

2:1 or above (or its international equivalent) undergraduate degree. Your degree can be in any discipline. If you are a UK student and completed your undergraduate degree abroad, your qualification must be equivalent to a 2:1 or above. We may make an offer based on a lower grade if you can provide evidence of your suitability for the degree.

Additional fee information

All School of Management MSc courses have a £60 application fee. Do not pay the fee until you have completed your application. If we offer you a place on a course, you will need to pay a £1,500 deposit to secure it.
