The course will go on to offer undergraduates an opportunity to gain fundamental techniques and academic training, including anatomy and physiology, as well as key practical skills required to work within the make up industry. Students will be taken on a journey from the past to present gaining invaluable knowledge of contextual and cultural influences in order to be inspired to design and create for today’s competitive make up industry. Throughout the Creative Make Up Design and Practice course, undergraduates will take part in a range of workshops, practical assessments and design briefs, supported by academic work in order to produce a portfolio and business plan ready for employment. External industry guest speakers will enhance your experience further allowing you to develop a current awareness of trends and products. You will work on live industry briefs linking with employers, and will develop skills by working towards national and international competition briefs. You will be learning skills relating to make up in the fashion/photographic, TV/film and the commercial sector, progressing to theatrical make up and special effects. The course is designed to not only equip undergraduates with the practical skills needed to function successfully, but also to produce artists that can design, inspire and enthuse the larger audience and communicate appropriately within its functioning world. In addition, enterprising make up businesses are an emerging feature throughout the North West region and students will be supported in their personal progression for self-employment and business plan development. Work experience within all areas of media and the make up industries will form a key aspect of this course.
