Course summary
This is one of several specialist routes available in our BA (Honours) Social Sciences (R23) degree. You'll study core modules in interdisciplinary social science and sociology, giving you a firm grounding in ideas central to the social sciences. This will be combined with discovering more about the ideas held by classic and contemporary philosophers and learning to think about the big questions of philosophy for yourself. You’ll explore a range of debates in ethics and political philosophy, as well as questions about the nature of the self, the existence of God, and the limits of human knowledge. Modules
This degree has three stages. In Stage 1 you’ll start with an introductory social science module followed by choosing between a broad introduction to the arts and humanities or focusing on revolutionary changes. Next, at Stages 2 and 3, you will take a sociology module and specialise in philosophy.
