Course summary
Before it gets built, before it gets modelled, before it gets blown up or embarks on amazing adventures or stories: someone has to design it. That person is a concept artist. Leveraging fundamental, industry practised art and design skills, along side advanced 3D modelling, this degree will prepare you for work as a concept artist in the games, film and television industry. You will learn the main requirement of a concept artist: visual problem solving - where you take someone else's written idea and turn it into a workable concept design Throughout your time at Staffordshire University, you will have many opportunities to interact with the games industry in events such as: guest lectures, portfolio reviews, game jams, networking socials, mock interviews and many more. Our Concept Art graduates work at companies such as: Rockstar North, Playground Games, Media Molecule, Sharkmob, Demodern, Xisle Games, Tomorrow Film, Intouch Games and Killhouse games. You'll also be taught how to be enterprising should you wish to set yourself up as freelance concept artists, which many of our graduates have done.
