Course summary

Explore the relationship between stress, health, and performance across diverse environments, from corporate offices to space exploration. Understand how humans adapt and thrive in high-pressure settings and maintain longevity in highly demanding occupations. The psychology of human performance is a unique and dynamic field that plays a crucial role in helping individuals and teams fulfil their potential. On this course, you’ll gain a holistic understanding of human adaptation and functioning in performance domains.  You’ll examine enablers and disablers of human performance and learn about the factors that predict who’ll thrive in extreme conditions, from a biopsychosocial perspective. You’ll explore the concept of “extreme jobs” and their impact on health and performance.  You'll engage in a variety of learning experiences, including lectures, small group tutorials, and workshops, designed to foster holistic and practical understanding. You’ll have the opportunity to hear from guest speakers, including world-renowned individuals working in high-performance domains.  Features and benefits

Entry requirements

A 2:2 or above in an undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline, such as Psychology, Science, Social Sciences, or Business. Applicants with relevant occupational experience (for example, experience of working in a high-performance domain such as the police or healthcare, or relevant corporate experience in positions such as management, HR, talent-acquisition) will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Applicants should clearly demonstrate the following in their personal statement: how your experiences and career to date have motivated you to apply for this course. your commitment and ability to dedicate appropriate time and resources to the course.
