You’ll master fundamental energy and electrical engineering principles, alongside advanced and contemporary topics in renewable energy sources and energy conversion systems, low carbon technologies and conventional energy sources, including wind and wave, solar energy, nuclear energy, oil, and gas. This MSc programme has been developed in collaboration with the East of England Energy Group (EEEGR) and is accredited by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) and the Energy Institute. The programme addresses a national and regional shortage of highly qualified energy engineering graduates. As a result, graduates of this course are in high demand, and many are already in key positions in the industrial energy sector. This course offers constant opportunities to connect with practicing professional engineers in a variety of settings. You’ll be able to build your own network during modules, at trade events, at local branch meetings and on project work. Your most significant project – your dissertation – might be industry-based, industry-led or an academic research project. Ultimately, you’ll graduate with a deep understanding of the long-term goal of renewable energy alongside the broader reality of a sustainable energy mix. The course is delivered by the School of Engineering within the Faculty of Science – which houses an impressive base of engineering knowledge, particularly in the Schools of Mathematics, Environmental Sciences, Biological Sciences, Computing Sciences and Chemistry. We are internationally renowned for our research and teaching in many relevant fields, including Energy Engineering, Energy Materials, Geophysical Sciences, Applied Mathematics and Computer Systems Engineering to name a few. The option in Environmental Management takes advantage of our links with the world-renowned School of Environmental Sciences. How to apply

International applicants

This course has a subject classification which requires students whose nationality is outside the European Economic Area (EEA) or Switzerland to have an ATAS certificate, irrespective of country of residence at the point of application.

Entry requirements

DEGREE CLASSIFICATION Bachelors 2.1 or equivalent DEGREE SUBJECT any relevant subject including significant Mathematical content. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS Entry with other qualifications or experience will be considered if the necessary mathematical and technical expertise has been acquired elsewhere (e.g. relevant industrial experience). ACADEMIC TECHNOLOGY APPROVAL SCHEME (ATAS) Applicants applying for a Student VISA will require an ATAS certificate before they apply.
