Who is it for? The course is targeting new entrants to Post Production Assistant and Post Coordinator roles. We are looking for individuals who are interested in what happens after shootings as finished or who have a general interest in one area of Post Production - Picture, Sound, VFX etc. Post Production is an incredibly rewarding path is the Film & TV Industry, and one that needs excellent communication and collaborative skills, a hunger to get ahead and an awareness of the technical workflows. What does the course cover? The curriculum emphasises practical knowledge and industry insights with guest speakers who are experts in their respective fields invited to share their knowledge & experiences. Fundamental aspects of post-production, including workflows for picture, VFX, sound, and music, are covered in a ‘Basic Workflow’ session. Understanding where individuals fit into the project enhances participants' ability to assimilate quickly. A dedicated session focuses on the initial experiences of participants, guiding them on what information to seek and how to support the Post Production Supervisor effectively. The job description of the Post Coordinator is explored in detail, so that the students come to understand a potential project & their role within it. Interpersonal dynamics and time management are discussed, featuring a guest speaker who shares insights on achieving more in less time, plus the importance of leadership and negotiation skills are highlighted with their own separate sessions. We ensure that our participants hone their skills with expert guest speakers, providing valuable insights into characters, styles, and tricks encountered day-to-day. Practical skills required during production, such as coordinating handovers from production, contracting crew, and managing vendor contracts, are addressed in relevant sessions. Calendar management, cost tracking, and joining a project during the fine cut/editorial phase are explored in detail. The course also covers practical aspects such as booking transportation, sourcing and booking studio spaces, coordinating travel and accommodation. Technical delivery is a key focus, providing participants with the ability to read deliverables lists and create trackers. The final sessions concentrate on ADR & paperwork delivery, encompassing credits, paid ads, billing blocks, logos, residuals, music cue sheets, and stock footage. The course concludes with a session on bringing everything together, addressing delivery requirements, tracking deliverables, troubleshooting queries, and preparing participants for the job market. Practical tips on CV writing, networking, and industry etiquette are shared, ensuring participants are well-prepared for successful careers in the post-production industry. Finally, the course comes with a Post Super Premium Membership for all students. Entry requirements
This course is open to UK applicants and EU/EEA Nationals with UK pre-settled/settled status (subject to meeting residency requirements) and applicants who are currently in the UK on a valid visa for the full duration of the course. You should have a good general education, but there are no other specific educational requirements. No previous experience in production is needed for this course.
