About your course This is a two year accelerated degree in Professional Policing, which has been licensed by the College of Policing, the professional Statutory and Regulatory Body (PSRB) for policing. The programme covers a wide-ranging areas of law, social science, policy and research skills essential to a policing career. You will be taught in the Liverpool Centre for Advanced Policing Studies by lecturers with academic and professional backgrounds in policing. Study takes place at Mount Pleasant Campus in the Liverpool Centre for Advanced Policing, a pioneering research centre for interdisciplinary law enforcement, and is licensed by the College of Policing to deliver degree programmes. This accelerated degree programme is delivered in Autumn, Spring and Summer semesters and will equip graduates with the required level of professional knowledge and understanding to begin their policing career. It will also put policing in the wider context of society. Each student is allocated a personal tutor whose role is to offer general advice, guidance and support regarding the broader aspects of your studies and university life in general.

Assessment method

Academic assessment will be undertaken in accordance with University standards. Generally, this will be by way of written assignments, presentations and exams, both seen and unseen. The range or diversity of assessments are designed to cater for all student needs and allow students to develop and demonstrate a variety of skills much in demand by the police service. There is also a requirement for students to undertake self-reflection. Some assessment are based on reports of this reflective process. The assessment process will be supported by university staff and there is a recognition that some students will need additional support in line with any particular learning needs.
