Course summary
Why Music Business (with placement)? Our Music Business degree prepares you to develop a multi-skilled and entrepreneurial approach to new business, globally and locally, using cutting-edge technologies and ideas. The music industry is a ‘people business’ and you’ll work in creative teams to run live music events, create marketing campaigns, launch music products, manage artists and take roles in running a production company. Gaining specialist knowledge in music marketing, law, events, sustainability, management, emergent technologies and business enterprise, you’ll develop audience and market solutions for commercial and community music projects. Our lecturers use their extensive professional networks to bring you the very latest in current practice, share industry insights and secure inspiring guest speakers. They’ve worked at the BBC and Universal Music and across the independent sector, including Fire Records and Hospital Records, and draw on their experience to prepare you to work in our dynamic and hyper-creative UK music industry, including on an optional full year's work placement. In our media centre, you’ll have 24-hour access to sound, film, TV, VFX and radio studios, production labs and rehearsal spaces. Working closely with other media students, you’ll collaborate on major projects such as BBC Introducing sessions, Lost Horizon’s VR festival stages, and take part in our annual media festival of workshops, masterclasses and employment fairs. You can also join in with our whole community of musicians on tour in Europe, or work at UK festival stages. Why University of Gloucestershire?
