Course summary

The Masters in Economic Development focuses on the economic analysis of issues primarily related to economic development and development policy. You will benefit from a wide range of courses during the first semester, before choosing your preferred pathway. In the second semester, you can specialise in either finance (with a focus on developing countries) or development policy. WHY THIS PROGRAMME

We will support candidates with their applications before the deadline but if unsuccessful, they can opt for a research proposal for their dissertation. Students can also secure their own projects with approval from academic and/or professional services. PROGRAMME STRUCTURE You will take four core courses and a selection of optional courses. You can choose between submitting a dissertation or completing an industry project. We have a dedicated careers and employability team who provide 1-2-1 support and advice, group workshops, employer events on campus and networking opportunities throughout the year to help you with your career prospects.

Entry requirements

2.1 Hons (or non-UK equivalent) in Economics, Finance, Statistics, Development Studies or related discipline within Social Sciences and Humanities. For Social Sciences and Humanities degrees, applicants must have graduated with at least 2 credit bearing modules in Economics and/or Finance and/or Statistics at an average grade of pass. International students with academic qualifications below those required should contact our partner institution, Glasgow International College, who offer a range of pre-Masters courses.
