Assessment method

The Durham MBA is delivered by leading academics through a combination of sessions that include lectures, workshops, case studies, and individual and group presentations. Some sessions are given by invited speakers who are experts in their relevant field. The MBA includes a high percentage of independent study outside of the timetabled contact hours, this planning and preparation will help you contribute to smaller group sessions and gain the most value from the course. Assessment is rigorous and is carried out using a range of tools designed to analyse your knowledge and skills. These include essays, case analyses, examinations, individual and group reports, presentations, portfolios and a business project. Depending on the pathway selected, you will also complete a business plan or produce an analytical project. In addition to the help provided by your subject lecturers, you can also access extensive support for your assessments through ASC, the Academic Skills Centre. Entry requirements

At least three years’ continuous post-graduation work experience in positions demonstrating a high degree of responsibility. Upper Second Class Bachelor Degree, or international equivalent. Lack of formal qualifications is not necessarily a barrier to admission; managerial experience is also a key consideration for entry to our Full-time MBA programme. In such cases, we may ask you to submit a portfolio of evidence demonstrating capability in areas such as your management experience, including critical thinking skills and communication skills. Alternatively, you may be required to provide a well-balanced GMAT score of a minimum of 600 (Durham GMAT code: BBB-W0-80).
