On the BA (Hons) Film Production course, you’ll bring your original ideas to life on the big screen. Immerse yourself in a curriculum that mirrors the dynamism of the film industry, equipping you with the essential skills and attributes for exciting roles within this rapidly developing field. You'll work together with talented collaborators throughout the creative process—developing imaginative concepts, realising captivating designs, and mastering the intricacies of screenwriting, producing, production design, sound, cinematography, editing, and directing. Our unique learning model places students in real-world production settings, allowing aspiring filmmakers to work closely with actors, makeup and costume artists. You’ll gain a broad understanding of filmmaking while developing specialist knowledge of various roles and their unique skill sets. Our hands-on experience boosts employability, targeting industry skills gaps and nurturing both practical knowledge and individual resilience. Reflecting the Arts University’s ethos, this course emphasises practical learning within a supportive academic environment. Alongside practical filmmaking, you’ll study cinema in breadth and depth, exploring fiction and non-fiction, experimental and commercial filmmaking, enriching your knowledge of film culture and deepening your artistic exploration. Professional Placement Between your second and third year of study, you have the option of taking a Professional Placement Year. You take charge of securing your own placement, with guidance from your course team. Opting for this path will boost your industry experience and skills while you continue your studies. Choosing this option now does not tie you into taking the Professional Placement Year. Once you're here and studying with us, the course team will discuss the placement options with you. We welcome applicants who are currently studying or who have gained a Foundation Diploma in Art and Design and this qualification meets our level three entry requirements. This is a recommended qualification for many of our courses but it is not a compulsory qualification. Other relevant and equivalent Level 3 qualifications are considered on an individual basis and we are happy to accept applicants with a combination of Level 3 qualifications. Please check your qualifications using UCAS Tariff calculator and remember we are looking for the equivalent of 3 A levels if you are combining Level 3 qualifications. AUB tailors its offers to the qualifications an applicant is studying and looks for applicant to be studying a relevant creative subject. AUB makes offers based on up to three A Levels or equivalent Level 3 qualifications with the most UCAS Tariff points attached to them to give applicants the best chance possible at achieving our required tariff (120 UCAS Tariff points in most cases).
