Course summary

Develop the creative, technical and soft skills you need to thrive in your career with an accredited Computer Science degree from LTU. We've designed the course in partnership with leading tech employers such as Sky and Infinity Works who want to hire graduates with a blend of technical and transferable skills. You'll design and develop apps to solve real-world problems and work closely with tech companies throughout your degree. We'll teach you everything you need to know to design, develop, test and launch new products, as well as the soft skills tech employers need for you to be part of a flexible and dynamic team. Tech employers are involved in every aspect of the degree, from inputting into the modules you'll study, to setting some of the projects you’ll work on. You’ll meet them through guest lectures and work with them during the professional work placements included in your degree. You can specialise in exciting areas of computer science such as artificial intelligence, cyber security and software engineering. You'll have the chance to graduate with an impressive portfolio and the skills employers want, as well as the connections to help kickstart your career. Professional work placements We work closely with a wealth of tech companies in the Leeds city region to secure professional placement opportunities which will help you further develop your skills and confidence in the workplace. Recent placement providers include Sky, Infinity Works, Aire Logic and TwentySix Digital. Graduate opportunities Modern computer science roles are numerous and varied, ranging from AI developer to UX/UI designer, Scrum Master and Cyber Security Analyst. These roles require a far more diverse skill set than the traditional stereotype would have you believe.

All the books and e-books are available from our Library to borrow but you may choose to purchase your own. On some courses there may be additional costs, such as field trips, equipment, accreditations, that may be part-funded by the University. More details will be provided at the start of the course. You'll need to include placement/s travel and associated costs too, however the University will contribute a standard amount towards your total expenditure. The University provides students with a £6 printing credit each academic year which can be topped up either on campus or online.
